Lucan is a suburb of Dublin located about 16km west of the city center, on the N4 and very close to Dublin’s ring road ‘The M50′. It’s a picturesque town situated on the banks of the River Liffey and is made up of two parts ‘Old Lucan’ and ‘New Lucan’. Public transport - how to get about…
Lucan offers easy access to and from the city centre with a number of public transport options to choose from. There’s a railway station, and Dublin Bus operates a regular bus service to/from the area as does the Night-Link service. As part of the’Transport 21′ plan, Lucan has a proposed Luas Line that will be completed by 2012. There’s also a feederbus service that runs from The Liffey Valley Shopping Centre to and from the Blanchardstown Shopping Centre.

Lucan is steeped in history and a prominent feature in the town is Lucan House. This is a magnificent late 18th century Georgian house and was once the location of Sarsfield’s Castle. Lucan House has been the home to The Italian Ambassador of Ireland for over 50 years and one of very few historic houses used today as a family residence and not a museum. On the grounds of Lucan House is a spa that attracted many people in previous years who believed it had great healing powers!
