Wild Fowl Reserves Liffey Valley

Lucan
Dublin
Phone: Fax:
The natural valley in which most of north county Dublin lies, results in large areas of wetlands, where slow flowing rivers and the sea meet or where the sea itself invades and retreats, creating fascinating wetland and broadmeadows. These areas provide a natural habitat for a huge variety of sea birds and other flora and fauna.

The major estuaries and wetlands are Broadmeadow at Malahide, where the seas incursions have created a lake and wetlands. Rogerstown embraces the peninsula between Portrane and Donabate, an enchanting backwater with a store of wildlife. Baldoyle Estuary, which runs between the village of Sutton and the Portmarnock Peninsula.
Description
The Liffey where it forms the south-west boundary of Fingal near Lucan has a wildlife area of great beauty, with the Strawberry Beds between Chapelizod and Lucan providing enchanting and picturesque views.
