Have a right royal time this December by enjoying the Malahide Castle Christmas Banquets during the month of December which take place in the Great Hall. Prepare to eat like a king and party the night away at this unique event - find out more about the banquet itself, the venue, Dublin hotels nearby and how to get there.

Malahide Castle is located on a 250-acre parkland estate near to the village of Malahide about 15km north of Dublin City Centre. It’s easy enough to get to as well; you can take the DART from the city centre as far as Malahide village. There’s also a bus, the number 42, which travels to Malahide from the city centre.

If you’re driving from the North, you can simply head south along the M1 until you get to the Swords Road turn-off. If you’re travelling by car from the West or the South, then you can head for the M50, at the end of the M50 turn north along the M1. Continue north until you get to the Swords Road turn-off and head east.

Continue straight on this road and take the first exit on the next roundabout onto the Swords Road. Once on this road, continue straight for approximately one mile and turn right at the traffic lights onto the R107. Take the next left turn onto the Back Road and left again into the grounds of Malahide Castle. You can even hire the hall for private banquets throughout the year, but during the month of December festive banquets are held, for which you have to buy tickets.

A Christmas Banquets at Malahide Castle is a great way of celebrating the holiday season. The Great Hall has been the formal banqueting venue since 1475. A banquet ticket will entitle you to a private tour of the castle with all of its classic furniture and its many paintings, which come from the National Gallery of Ireland. And you can enjoy a pre dinner drink in the 18th Century Blue Room.

After this, you’ll be ushered into the majestic Great Hall where you can enjoy your sumptuous 6-course meal, which will be accompanied by a string quartet from the minstrel’s gallery. Once you’ve eaten your fill, you and your fellow guests will be treated to an evening of traditional Irish music or even the magical music of the castles singer and harpist, Breeda Ward.
