Heading to Cork city for a gaelic football or hurling match? Then you’re more than likely heading to Páirc Uí Chaoimh - home of the GAA in County Cork.

Páirc Uí Chaoimh is a stadium located on the south side of the River Lee just at the edge of Cork city centre. It’s the third largest stadium in Ireland (after Croke Park and Semple Stadium) with a capacity of 43,500.

The stadium is home to major sporting events like the National League hurling and football matches and the Championship hurling and football matches. It’s also held some major concerts like U2 and Oasis.

Páirc Uí Chaoimh opened in 1976 and was named after Pádraig O Caoimh, who was a native of Cork and was general secretary of the GAA between 1929-1964. The stadium features one covered stand, one open stand and two terraces behind each goal.

As part of the docklands redevelopment in Cork, there are plans to expand the stadium to cater for up to 60,000 spectators.

The stadium is located about a 20 minute walk outside the city centre. One way to get there is from Parnell Place in the city centre. Just cross over the bridge to get on Anglesea Street. Take a left on Copley Street and continue straight onto Albert Road. When you come to a roundabout go straight onto Centre Park Road and continue along this road until you come to the stadium on your right hand side.
