About the show…

The Viennese Strauss Gala is a major event for the Helix as last year’s concert was a huge hit and a total sellout. This gala performance will introduce you to a by-gone age of great operettas of Strauss, Kalman and Lehar: including Die Fledermaus and The Merry Widow to name a few. This is a real taste of the classical Viennese culture and this particular show has opened to rave reviews all over Europe.

Dancers and soloists from the major British Opera companies; including Opera North, English National Opera and D’Oyly Carte perform this awe-inspiring show. Matthew Freeman, conductor and arranger with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, leads a sixteen-piece orchestra, featuring the European Orchestral Ensemble in this wonderfully sung recital.

If you’re travelling from Dublin city centre then you can either drive or take the bus. By car take the N1 north towards Drumcondra. Continue on towards the M1 until you get to the junction at Whitehall. Here, take a left onto Collins Avenue and as you drive along this street you should see DCU on the left after the St. Aidans CBS. You can also reach it by bus by taking numbers 4, 11, 11A, 11B, 13, 13A and 19A.

If travelling from outside Dublin then you simply have to head for Dublin and once you arrive at the M50, head north until the Ballymun exit (Junction 4). If travelling from Belfast or County Louth then you’ll be travelling south along the M50. Once you make your exit you can drive through Ballymun and turn left at the Collins Avenue/Ballymun Road crossroads (approx 500 meters).
