If you’re going to be in Dublin this October Bank Holiday weekend, you’ll be glad to know there’s some very interesting Halloween festivals for you to head along to and all are free!

Dublin city

Dublin pulls out all the stops this Halloween, so mark your calender and head to the capital for a scarily good time! Gather up the kids and come along to the city for the annual Samhain Halloween Festival, which is the city’s biggest Halloween festival and starts on Saturday 27th of October.

This festival promises to be a spectacular event for the entire family and one not to be missed. The highlight of the weekend is sure to be the Samhain Halloween Parade which will take start at 7pm on Wednesday October 31st. It will once again capture the imagination of the public and welcomes anybody daring enough to show off their scariest costume to join in and tag along with the droves of professional street entertainers as there strut their stuff through the streets of Dublin.

Spectators will be dazzled and entertained by a display of dancers, samba performers, monsters ghosts, goblins, witches or anything else wanting to make an impression. So, dust off your costume and put on the scary face paint and make your way down to Parnell Square to join in the fun. If you don’t feel like dressing up, simply take yourself and a warm jacket and follow the parade from Parnell Square, down O’Connell Street, onto Westmoreland Street and finally into Temple Bar where the parade finishes with an extravagant fireworks display.

Ballymun & Finglas

Both Ballymun and Finglas Halloween festivals take place on Wednesday October 31st. If last year’s festivities are anything to go by you’ll have a ball. The events attracted huge numbers and this year’s festival promises to be bigger and better!

Marley Park Samhain Halloween Parade

Come wearing your scariest costume! On Saturday, October 27th, Marlay Park features an annual Halloween Parade which is celebrated in a carnival spirit. Children are encouraged to take part and join the fancy dress parade through Marlay Park in their Halloween costumes. The seasonally decorated woodland walkway sets the scene for the parade and there are lots of festivities for the young ones with ghouls, ghosts, goblins and loads of games. The parade will kick off around 4pm and young and old are welcome. It promises to be a great fun filled day and it’s free. Yep no charge!

If the adults are still up to a bit of fun the Monster Mosh Ball at the Voodoo Lounge, Smithfield Village could be an interesting night. Headline act will be playing 70′s, 80′s and 90′s rock and metal covers. Go if you dare.

Any energy left? The adidas Dublin City Marathon is on Monday the 29th October and this year Arnott’s are donating a voucher to the person taking part with the best Halloween costume. If you are running with the elite you will be forgiven for not having a costume!
