Gort

  • Gort is a beautiful market town located on the N18 the main Limerick to Galway road
  • Attractions in the town include Coole Park, Thoor Ballylee (an old tower house renovated by  W.B Yeats) and the Burren.
  • Gort is located 15 miles (24 km) south-east of Loughrea, in the southern part of the county.
  • Many of the streams around Gort run into caves in the limestone - of particular note is the Beagh River which flows from Lough Cutra.
