Belfast Airport - Car Hire
Visit the city that inspired such children’s classics as Gulliver’s Travels and the Chronicles of Narnia. Belfast has transformed itself into a fascinating place that combines traditional Victorian architecture, a sparkling waterfront, and a thriving cultural scene to create a hip, urban playground. Even better, with car hire you can use Belfast as an attractive base for exploring the rest of Northern Ireland.
What to See in Belfast
Titanic Belfast
You may have noticed that 2012 was the 100th anniversary of the Titanic’s ill-fated maiden voyage. Titanic Belfast is the world’s biggest Titanic visitor experience and a must-see for anyone with appetite for history. A state-of-the-art building at the site of the ship’s construction tells the story of the Titanic from its conception in Belfast in the early 1900s.
The Giant’s Causeway
Northern Ireland’s only UNESCO World Heritage site, the Giant's Causeway is a jaw-dropping geological formation 62 miles from Belfast with car hire. Set against a stunning coastal backdrop of Atlantic waves, rugged cliffs, and astonishing views, the Causeway comprises a headland of neatly packed basalt columns which point towards Scotland. Walk along the columns at the water’s edge and imagine you are Fionn Mac Cumhaill, the original giant who was said to have built the causeway to cross to Scotland to settle a tiff!
Ulster Museum
The Ulster Museum in Belfast’s Botanic Gardens is the place to meet dinosaurs and an ancient Egyptian mummy. With free entry, the museum presents an incredible treasure trove of art, history and natural sciences. You’ll find items from around the world, with age-old relics and interactive exhibits providing something of interest for everyone.
St George's Market
This delightful Victorian covered market on the corner of Oxford and May Streets has been operating since 1896 and is the oldest continually functioning market on the island. Restored in 1999, it holds a variety market on Friday, selling fresh flowers, fruit, vegetables, meat and fish, as well as general household and second-hand goods. Saturday is the City Food and Garden Market, with live music to entertain customers. The Sunday market offers food, antiques and local arts and crafts.
