Clonmel hosts its 12th annual arts festival this July 6th to 15th. The Clonmel Junction Festival offers an eclectic mix of theatre, family fun, comedy, circus, dance, rock, world music, and plenty of free entertainment.
This year marks a new departure for the festival because, instead of using the Chadwicks building as a hub, performances will be held in a range of venues around the town, as well as in a selection of interactive café spaces.
With the London Olympics looming, the theatre programme centres on British theatre and features three thrilling and distinctive shows from the British Council’s cultural Olympiad programme, Next Door Neighbours.
The Irish Chamber Orchestra will attend the festival for the first time, and the wonderful festival choir will return under the baton of Elizabeth Attl. A touch of the exotic is provided by magical world music from Mali, Portugal, and Jamaica. The Pearly Whites and French New Orleans swing band Oncle Stongle will join forces for an exciting collaboration, and a comprehensive programme of rock, trad, blues, and comedy means there will be something for everyone.
