Belfast City Hall is a major landmark and tourist attraction located in Donegall Square, in Belfast’s vibrant city centre. Belfast City Hall was designed by Alfred Brumwell Thomas, and is today the home of Belfast City Council. It has been said that Belfast City Hall was built to represent a glorious “Edwardian wedding cake” which was granted by Queen Victoria in 1888. This magnificent building reaches 53 meters high and is surrounded by beautiful manicured grounds and gardens popular with city centre workers, students and tourists who wish to take time out and relax.
Belfast City Hall was closed in October 2007 for major refurbishments which cost a massive £11 million. To mark the reopening of Belfast City Hall there will be a fortnight of activities that will run from: 17th October to 31st October 2009.
Events that will take place include:
Film - Classic movies including local films and movies for people of all ages will be screened in The Belfast City Hall Cinema. Tickets are free but you must book your place in advance to avoid any disappointment.
