In what could be considered as a warm up gig for their concert in Dublin on the 2nd of July, The Eagles will certainly give Galway a night to remember.
The Eagles are: Glen Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit and have been on the music scene since 1970, with a 14 year break from 1980 to 1994, when Glen Frey and Don Henley carved up lucrative solo careers.
Reforming in 1994, the Eagles have still got what it takes to sell out major concert arenas and their latest tour Long Road Out of Eden, promoting the album of the same name has been on the road since March 2008.
On the night you will obviously hear tracks from the current album, but also you can expect to hear the classics that made the Eagles the super group that they are today. “One of these nights”, “Heartache tonight”, “Life in the fast lane” “Hotel California” will no doubt be resounding around Galway city on the 2nd of July and rumor has it that Don Henley will belt out his classic summer anthem of 1984, “The Boys of Summer”. Definitely a night to remember!
The Venue
1957 saw the opening of the original Pearse Stadium. However in 2003, the completed new stadium was a far cry from its humble beginnings with a capacity for 34,000 attendees and a stand with seating for 8,000. The facility has pressrooms, 2 warm up areas, a medical room and 4 dressing rooms. Pearse Stadium is no stranger to hosting concerts, as previously
Bryan Adams and Bob Dylan have played there.
Directions
Pearse Stadium is located just off Threadneedle Road and Upper Salthill Road, which is just a short walking distance from the Salthill Promenade. Turn at Leisureland and it’s within a few hundred yards.
Public Transportation
Trains and buses are available from all parts of Ireland and arrive at the Station just off Eyre Square. From Eyre Square, follow road towards the docks, past Spanish Arch and over O’Brien’s Bridge at Jurys Hotel. From O’Brien’s Bridge its straight to Salthill.
Driving:
Follow directions towards Salthill over Quincentenial Bridge and go straight through roundabouts and you arrive at Salthill.
Parking:
Very limited parking available within the vicinity of Pearse Stadium. Many roads close to Pearse Stadium have restricted access and are under garda control.
Accessible Seating:
The venue is wheelchair accessible.
Children Rules:
* Under 16′s are classed as children.
* Students (aged 17+) must provide a valid ID.
For Eagles fans, it certainly will be “One of these nights” at Pearse Stadium, July 2nd!
