The Institute of Technology Tralee is a third level college located in Tralee in County Kerry. It’s at the forefront of learning and education in the south west, providing courses from certificate level up to doctoral level.

The IT Tralee has expanded and developed over the years and is now based on two campuses in the town of Tralee - the South Campus and the North Campus. It’s currently got 3,500 students, which come from all over Munster, Ireland and beyond.

In 1977, the IT Tralee was first established as a Regional Technical College and in 2004 it reached a milestone when it was an awarded an Institute of Technology status. The college was originally only built to cater for just 800 students.

€40 million has been invested in the North Campus over the last five years and there are yet more developments in the pipeline to create state of the art educational facilities for the students who attend here.

Courses & Students Union

IT Tralee offers courses in the following areas; Hotel, Catering & Tourism, Business Studies and Languages, Business Informatics, Humanities & Social Studies, Engineering & Construction Studies, Computers, Science, Health & Leisure, Nursing & Health Care. Students can also pursue Postgraduate studies to Masters and PhD level.

The college also has a very pro-active students union and a range of sports for students to get involved in like athletics, golf, badminton, karate, rugby, hill walking, sailing, surfing and kayaking just to name a few. Art, drama, dance, hip hop, music, yoga, radio, paintball, science and film are just some of the societies you can join up to here.

Location & How to get there

The college has two campuses. The South campus is located at Clash (just at the edge of the town) while the North Campus (established in 2001) is located in Dromtacker, which is about 2.4km away.

If you are arriving in Tralee on the N21, just take the 3rd exit at the 3rd roundabout and the South campus is on your left hand side. For the north campus, continue on Clash road and take your first left after the roundabout and the campus is on your right hand side.
