Farmleigh is located just four miles north west of Dublin city centre in the Phoenix Park. Farmleigh was originally a magnificent Georgian house, built in the late 18th Century and was purchased by the Guinness family. After many extensions and renovations, in 1999 the Irish Government purchased the house and in 2001 Farmleigh was beautifully restored to its former glory.

Farmleigh sits on a wonderful 78-acre site. It’s often used for visiting dignitaries and guests of the nation, as well as a venue for government meetings. Farmleigh Christmas and Food Market is just one of the many annual events that take place here each year. The whole place comes to life in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

You can visit the food market and sample the traditional mince pies, mulled wine, Christmas cake, hot chocolate as well as a variety of homegrown produce from all over Ireland. Everything is available to buy and the many delights on offer are sure to ignite your taste buds and also make great Christmas gifts.

You must come and see the amazing Christmas decorations for yourself. Farmleigh will be decorated in traditional Edwardian style. There’s also a Children’s Christmas Room in the house, and make sure you don’t miss the ‘Live Crib’. The staff of Farmleigh also play a part during the Christmas period and dress in wonderful period costumes.

The Christmas Food Market will take place at the Courtyard or Farmyard every Saturday during the month of December starting at 10am.
