Blooms 2008 is the premier showgarden extravaganza which will be held over the weekend of 29th May-2nd June in the Phoenix Park Dublin. If you’re in the city for the June Bank Holiday weekend, then why not come along and enjoy the beautiful floral displays, showgardens, farmers market and some indoor and outdoor entertainment, so it’s guaranteed to be a weekend of fun for all the family.

About the event…

Blooms 2008 is sure to be a fantastic event if last year is anything to go by! In 2007, the festival had over 50,000 visitors, proving that the Irish are only too willing to embrace gardening, horticulture and their natural surroundings.

The gardening market in Ireland has been estimated to be worth €1 billion; so coming to this festival will enable you to see all the best ideas and trends in stylish gardens, perhaps for use in your own garden. In addition to the showgardens, there will also be a hanging basket feature and an outdoor entertainment stage that will host a number of different shows throughout the festival. There is also a food market and a Fun Family Learning Zone.

This event takes place on the June Bank Holiday, from Thursday 29th of May to Monday 2nd of June 2008.

How to get to the Phoenix Park…

The Blooms Festival 2008 will take place in the Phoenix Park Visitors Centre, so when you reach the park just follow the signs to the Visitors Centre.

Phoenix Park is one of the largest enclosed city parks (712 hectares) in Europe and can be found about 3km west of Dublin city centre in the Castleknock area.

The entrance on Parkgate Street is the main entrance. When heading out from the city centre you can take the Red Luas tramline to Heuston Railway Station, which is just across the river from the entrance to the Phoenix Park.

Any of the following buses will get you to Pargate Street; 25, 25a, 26, 51, 66, 67, 68 and 69.

If you’re driving just get onto the M50 ring road and from there you can take the N3 exit for Castleknock. This is called the Navan Road and it runs along the northern border of the Phoenix Park.
