The Meteor Ireland Music Awards is Ireland’s biggest and most exciting music event of the year. The awards will be taking place in the RDS in Ballsbridge on Friday 15th of February, and special guests on the night will be the Saw Doctors who are receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award. About The Meteors…
The Meteor Ireland Music Awards is the premier awards event for music in Ireland. The awards are divided into categories which include Best National DJ, Best Regional DJ, Best Irish Band, Best Irish Male, Best Irish Female, Best Irish Pop Act, Best Irish Album and the Best Irish Live Performance. The public can vote for their favourite in each category and the winner is based on this result.
Other categories, such as best international band, and other international categories are also awarded on the night, but these aren’t open for public voting.
Dara O’Briain, one of Ireland’s best-known comedians will host the awards; so you can be sure of an entertaining night! The Saw Doctors are receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award and will also be performing along with The Coronas, Cathy Davey and an usual duet by The Republic of Loose and Sinead O Connor.
The awards kick off on Friday 15th of February at 8pm in the RDS Simmonscourt.

How to get to the RDS…
The RDS (Royal Dublin Society) concert and exhibition venue is located in the leafy Ballsbridge area of the city, about a 20 minute walk south of the city centre.
The RDS can be reached from the city centre on the bus routes 7, 5, and 45 which you can pick up on Nassau Street, next to Trinity College.
You could also hop on the DART train which stops at Lansdowne Station which is not far from the RDS.
If you’re walking from the city centre, just head south past Trinity College and onto Nassau Street. At the end of Nassau Street take a right onto Clare Street which leads onto Mount Street. After about 2kms you’ll come to the RDS on your right hand side.
