The two day Tralee St Patrick’s Festival in honour of our Patron Saint begins on Monday March 16th. The event will be attended by German Ambassador to Ireland, Herr Christian Pauls. A busy two days for the town, which will see a St. Patrick’s Eve concert, a function for a cultural partnership between Tralee and Frankfurt/Höchst, a multi-lingual Mass and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The Tralee St. Patrick’s Festival takes place on Monday 16th March and Tuesday 17th March in Tralee.

During the Festival the German Ambassador to Ireland, Herr Christian Pauls will be in Tralee for two days of the festivities. Herr Pauls will also be accompanied by a group of representatives from Frankfurt/Höchst, with a view to forming a cultural partnership with Tralee.

Siamsa Tíre is the venue for the formal launch of the cultural partnership between Tralee and Höchst on Monday 16th March. The Schlossgarde Band from Höchst, feature in a special St. Patrick’s Eve concert, along with performers from the Siamsa Tire Company, Kerry Choral Union, Tralee Youth Pipe Band and many more, again at Siamsa Tire.

St. Patrick’s Day honours our Patron Saint at an Irish, English and German Mass at St. John’s Church, Castle Street. Mass time: 10.30a.m. St. John’s church already has a connection with Germany, as its organ was built in Aachen and celebrates its centenary this year.

The St. Patrick’s Day parade begins at 12.00 noon. This colourful parade will include pipe bands, the Schlossgarde Band from Höchst, floats, 45 community groups, dancers, and clowns. The Grand Marshall of the Parade is Margaret Dwyer, former President of the Rose of Tralee International Festival.

The parade assembles at John Joe Sheehy Road, and will proceed down Boherbee, through Castle Street and then turn down into Denny Street where Guest of honour German Ambassador Herr Pauls will review the parade.

After all that excitement, why not stay around town and have a look at the town square at about 1.30p.m. as Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann will be on hand providing “craic agus ceoil” (music and merriment).

Then at 2.30p.m. it’s across to the Brandon Conference Centre, where festivities continue with KADE multi-cultural celebration.
