The Docklands Maritime Festival is definitely a festival not to be missed this Summer! This fun-filled weekend features summer markets, a street theatre, and live music, but the highlight of the festival has to be the Tall Ships that are moored along the dockland, which you can walk onto and explore. Read our guide to the festival…
About the festival…
The Docklands Maritime Festival was a major success in 2007, and will be making a return in 2008 due to popular demand. This event makes for a unique shopping experience and gives you and the kids a great opportunity to board and explore some of the Tall Ships. There will also be an array of nautical related street theatre and musical entertainment.
In last year’s event the tall ships Jeanie Johnston, Starvros S Niarchos and the Tenacious were in attendance. In addition to the Tall Ships, another popular feature of the festival last year was the large summer market that took place on the docks next to the river estuary. The summer market was a huge success last year and this year is sure to see the return of over 100 stalls with a vast selection of gourmet goodies and crafts from Ireland and overseas. In addition to the markets and the tall ships, there will also be some maritime related street theatre and music.
The festival will be launched the weekend after the June Bank holiday, from Friday 6th to Monday 9th of June. There is no admission charge to this event in the Liffey Quays. The times on different days are listed here:
Friday 6th 12:00pm - 8:00pm
