Bruce Springsteen, one of the world’s favourite rock icons, is going to take the RDS by storm for three sold out concerts in May. If you’re lucky enough to have a concert ticket, then read on for more info on the venue, how to get there and where to stay.
About the concert…
Rock and roll legend Bruce Springsteen is coming to Dublin and he is bringing the E Street Band with him. This concert will mainly feature tracks from his 23rd album ‘Magic’ which was just released last October. The album went platinum all over the world including Ireland, where it went to number 1. Bruce Springsteen’s style of folk and rock has made him an icon all over the world - he has even sold 65 million albums in the US alone!
‘The Boss’ will belt out favourites like ‘Radio Nowhere’, ‘The Promised Land’, ‘Devil’s Arcade’, ‘Born to Run’, ‘American Land’ and lots more.
The E Street Band has been Springsteen’s backing band on and off since 1972. Together they have released such albums and singles as Born to Run (1975), Born in the USA (1984), the aforementioned Magic (2007) and many others. The talent of the band is well established and they have worked with a number of other artists including Bob Dylan, Meat Loaf, Dire Straits, David Bowie, Sting and plenty more.
Bruce Springsteen will rock the RDS Main Arena to three sold out concerts on Thursday 22nd, Friday the 23rd and Sunday 25th of May. It’s sure to be an unforgettable night as the first leg of his ’07/’08 tour has opened to rave reviews in the US.
How to get to the RDS…
The RDS (Royal Dublin Society) is a concert and exhibition venue located about a 20 minute walk south of the city centre in an area called Ballsbridge. If you are walking to the venue, then just find Trinity College and start out on Nassau Street (around the corner from the college). Continue on this street which eventually becomes Clare Street, Merrion Square North, Lower Mount Street, Norththumberland Road and Merrion Road where you’ll see the RDS on your right hand side.
The RDS is also well served by bus routes 7, 5, (from Upper O’Connell Street) and 45 (from Eden Quay).
You could also get to the RDS by the DART train, which can pick you up at Connolly Station or Tara Street Station in the city centre and drop you off at Lansdowne Road Station which is just a short walk from the RDS.
