Dunshaughlin

The name of the village is from Secundinus or Seachnall, a disciple of St. Patrick who founded a church here in the 5th century. In the graveyard of the Protestant Church is a 10th or 11th century carving of the Crucifixion in a style similar to that found on High Crosses. Approximately 1.6 km south of the village is a preserved work-house abolished by the Irish State in the early twenties. The workhouse is under private ownership and is not open to the public.
