Listowel
- Listowel is a thriving inland heritage town on the banks of the River Feale in north County Kerry.
- In the town are the ruins of a castle which belonged to the Lords of Kerry, and was the last to hold out against the Elizabethan forces during the Desmond revolt; in 1600, it was taken by Sir Charles Wilmot, who put the garrison to the sword.
- Angling for brown trout on the River Galey and on the River Feale .
- You can visit Teach Siamsa Folk Theatre at Finuge (3 miles/5 km).
- There is a heritage centre with a theatre which features Irish traditional music and an exhibitions.
- Listowel has also been called 'The Literary Capital of Ireland' as it's home to famous writers such as Brian McMahon and John. B. Keane. It also hosts Listowel Writers Week each June.
