Emigration From County Leitrim

Emigration from Co. Leitrim has been principally to America, chiefly to the east coast of the US, but some Leitrim emigrants ventured as far west as Oregon. The Great Famine of 1845 - 1850, had a devastating effect on Leitrim and the county's population has been on the decline ever since. The Leitrim Genealogy Centre houses a retail outlet which sells local history and genealogy publications.
