Clarecastle

  • Clarecastle is situated approx 5km south of Ennis in County Clare
  • It has a lot of history and it's even said that the county name 'Clare' stemmed from this little town!
  • An O' Brien castle commanded the crossing and it was probably this castle, occupied by the Earl of Thomond, which gave its name to Clare County when it was created in 1576.
