This Christmas for the first time, major retailers are breaking from tradition and planning to open their doors to eager shoppers on St. Stephen’s Day. So if you haven’t had enough of the pre Christmas shopping or you’re just after some fantastic bargains in the sales, you’re sure to be joining the shopping frenzy on St. Stephen’s Day!

Calling all shopaholics! If you want to be first to bag some serious bargains in the Christmas sales you’ll need to be ready to hit the shops early on St. Stephen’s morning.

This year, for the first time ever, major department stores like Brown Thomas, Cleary’s and Arnotts will open their doors to try and lure shoppers and boost sales. They have promised some spectacular offers and savings, that price conscious shoppers and bargain hunters will not want to miss. Brown Thomas will have up to 50% off in the womens, mens, accessory and homeware department while Arnotts will have a limited range of plasma screen TVs for €99! Brown Thomas also plan to open its Cork store.

It’s also expected that other retailers will follow suit and so far shops like, River Island, Next and Debenham’s on Henry Street will open their doors too on St. Stephen’s Day.

St. Stephen’s Day is traditionally a day for horse racing and watching major sporting events on the TV, so major stores will have all the action on the big screen for the men shoppers.

With up to 50,000 shoppers expected to take advantage of the early opening, the Luas will run from 9am while many city centre car parks will be free of charge.
