Christmas is a fun, exciting and magical time for all the family and there’s no where better to spend it than in the beautiful county of Kerry in the south west of Ireland. Once again, Kerry has pulled out all the stops with lots of Christmas craft fairs, a festival, concerts, an ice rink and lots more. Here’s just a glimpse at what is taking place this Christmas in Kerry.

German Christmas Markets in Tralee

German traders from Tralee’s partner town Frankfurt-Hochst will descend on Tralee town for the highly anticipated German style outdoor Christmas Markets. They will begin on Friday 4th December and run until Tuesday 8th December.

Irish traders will also take part in the markets, which are guaranteed to feature the best of Irish and German traditional crafts, foods and gifts. The Christmas Markets will add a festive atmosphere to the town and visitors can enjoy browsing the stalls and sampling some Bratwurst (sausage) and traditional German mulled wine among other delicacies and Christmas treats.

The markets will feature approximately 30 stalls and will be open each day from 11am to 8pm in the Square in the heart of Tralee town.

Radio Kerry Presents & Prizes - Christmas Gift Fair

A visit to the Radio Kerry Gift Fair is sure to put you in the Christmas mood! It will take place on Sunday December 6th at the Brandon Conference Centre from 12 noon to 6pm.
This is the perfect opportunity to do your Christmas shopping as there will be a vast range of exhibitors selling hampers, food, confectionary, furniture, handcrafts, jewellery, clothing, books, flowers, paintings and lots more.

Andrew Morrissey from Radio Kerry will be there to play some festive music and they’ll also be entertainment from the Tralee Musical Society and the finalist of Kerry’s Got Talent. Of course, Santa will also be on hand to meet and greet the little ones! Admission is €3 per adult (children under 12 free) and you can be in with the chance of winning a Christmas gift in one of the hourly draws!

Arty Bits Christmas Craft & Art Fair in Tralee

This Christmas fair will be held at the Fel’s Point Hotel on Dan Spring Road, Tralee (near the Aqua Dome) on the 9th of December between 11am and 5pm. Entrance to this event is free, so come and browse the stalls which will exhibit knitwear, pottery, jewellery, Christmas cribs, slate craft, cards, glass, ceramics, jams and lots more. Santa will be on hand to officially open the fair at 11am and there will be a free mulled wine and mince pie reception for visitors at 3pm.

Christmas in Killarney

This is one of the top Christmas festivals in Ireland! It’s now in its 5th year and offers a fun packed programme of festive events for both young and old. There will be a free Santa’s Lodge, an ice skating rink, open air Christmas markets, Christmas concerts at the INEC, guided winter walks and fun runs to name a few. The festival will officially kick off with a children’s torch light parade and ‘switching on of the lights’ in the town by Santa Clause on Friday 4th December at 6.30pm sharp.

Other Christmas bits and pieces…

To get you into the Christmas spirit tune into Radio Kerry on December 8th when a special programme ‘A Caherciveen Christmas’ will be broadcasted from Cahirciveen right throughout the day. Also on Radio Kerry on the 9th of December Weeshie Fogarty will present a festive programme called ‘Christmas in Kerry’ between 6 and 7pm.

Radio Kerry’s Selection Box - Starting on November 30th, Radio Kerry will offer listeners a chance to win prizes from its Christmas selection box for 24 days. It will culminate with a bumper hamper giveaway which will be held on the 24th of December.
