There are some cracking Christmas events for kids taking place this year in Dublin. Here we take a look at just some of the events taking place, which your little ones are sure to love!
Christmas at Imaginosity
Imaginosity is Dublin’s children’s museum and it’s located in Sandyford. This interactive museum is all about learning while having fun. The museum has a action packed calendar of events for the month of December. There will be workshops where kids can learn to make Christmas decorations, special Christmas storytimes, Christmas discos, and Christmas drama workshops. Christmas at the Ark
The Ark is a cultural centre for children located in Temple Bar in Dublin. The custom built cultural centre for children works with both international and Irish artists to develop programmes and workshops that will introduce and develop kids cultural and artistic abilities while at the same time having fun. Christmas Time at Farmleigh
Farmleigh House was once home to the famous Guinness brewing family. It is located in Phoenix Park - the largest city park in Europe, which is located about 3km west of O’Connell Street. Farmleigh provides a wonderful festive experience for all the family. It is beautifully decorated with Edwardian style decorations, there’s a children’s Christmas room, a ‘live’ crib and a Christmas food market. Farmleigh has organised lots of Christmas events taking place on the weekends in the run up to Christmas, visit the Farmleigh website to view its calendar of events.
Ice skating
Ice skating is a always a fun day out at Christmas. There are lots of ice skating rinks in Dublin this year. 7up Christmas on Ice returns to its main venue the RDS from 13th November - 17th January and offers 3 fully covered ice rinks - a main rink, a beginners’s rink and a kiddies sleigh run. 7up Christmas on Ice will also have a rink at Liffey Valley from 20th November - 10th January. Dublin On Ice will be at Smithfield from 20th November - 10th January and at the Plaza in Sandyford from 13th November - 10th January.
Pantomimes
There’s plenty of pantomimes for you and your family to choose from in Dublin this Christmas. The Civic Theatre in Tallaght presents Little Red Riding Hood from 14th-19th December while the Snow Queen runs from the 27th-8th January. Robin Hood runs at the Olympia Theatre from the 18th December - 15th January while Jack and the Beanstalk can be seen at the Gaiety Theatre from 29th November-31st January. And if that’s not enough to choose from, Cinderella performs at The Helix from the 2nd December to the 17th January.
Funderland
For the ultimate thrill rides and rollercoaster, head for Funderland - it’s the largest travelling fun fair in Europe and it comes to Dublin from the 26th December to 10th January. It will be located at the RDS and will be open from 12 noon to 10pm daily. For more visit the Funderland website.
