Galway Early Music Festival
Featuring music from the Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque periods, Galway Early Music Festival kicks off on the 15th May until the 17th May 2009. Let’s Do It Galway
This is a series of festivities organised around the Galway stopover of the Volvo Ocean Race. The event takes place between the 23rd May and the 6th June 2009.
Cheer Ireland’s entry “Green Dragon” and enjoy regattas, exhibitions, concerts and markets.

Galway Film Fleadh
This filmmaker’s festival runs from the 7th to the 12th July. The programme also includes master classes, seminars, public interviews, debates and workshops. Keep an eye out for the stars of the silver screen as well, as past attendees have included our own Pierce Brosnan, Gabriel Byrne, Peter O’Toole, Aidan Quinn and Rutger Hauer to name but a few.

Galway Arts Festival
This year’s Galway Arts Festival takes place from the 13th to the 26th of July. Hundreds of performers will take part in a series of events including theatre, dance, music, literature and comedy. The festival will also feature street entertainment for kids and of course the Festival parade.

Galway Races - Summer Festival
This year’s Galway Races Summer Festival runs from the 27th July to the 2nd August. Big races include the William Hill Galway Plate and the Guinness Galway Handicap Hurdle. Keeping everyone happy, there is Ladies Day with a search for the Best Dressed Person and Mad Hatter and Family Day.

Galway Oyster Festival
The Galway International Oyster Festival will take place from the 24th to the 27th September 2009. During the four days festivities include the Guinness World Oyster Opening Championship, the Oyster Pearl Competition, the Magnificent Mardi Gras Party and the Oyster Festival Gala Ball.

The Baboró International Arts Festival for Children
This year’s festival dates are from the 12th October to the 18th October. During Festival week children will enjoy performances in theatre, music, story telling, and puppetry. There are also a series of workshops in arts and crafts for children to attend.

Galway Comedy Festival
Get ready to “laugh your socks off” at the Galway Comedy Festival which takes place between the 21st and 26th of October, 2009. And its not just our local talent who are competing for your “deep belly laughs”, but you can also look forward to seeing comedians from America, Australia, Canada and the U.K. at the festival.

Great Irish Beer Festival
The Great Irish Beer Festival is in October, however at the time of writing dates had not yet been finalized. The festival showcases over 100 beers from all over the world, which will include some unusual flavours and also non-alcoholic beers.

The Spirit of Voice Festival
The Spirit of Voice Festival takes place this year from the 6th to the 8th of November. This 3-day event features local and international performers, workshops, and story telling.
