The Cork International Choral Festival runs from Wednesday 29th of April to Sunday 3rd of May 2009. The event is held in Cork City Hall, where non-professional choirs are chosen to compete for the coveted Fleischmann International Trophy. You will have the opportunity to see these choirs perform outside of the competition area. Performances are scheduled for libraries, shopping centres, galleries, banks, restaurants and hotels.

Other events during the festival include the National Competitions which are scheduled from Thursday through to Sunday. Visiting choirs will also perform at local churches on Saturday and Sunday of Festival weekend. The Festival club features choirs who would like to participate in the festivities, but do not wish to take part in the competitions.

Club For Five, the award winning group from Finland bring Cork City their slant on jazz, pop, rock and classical music on Thursday, 30th April. On Friday the 1st of May, Singer Pur, the award winning vocal ensemble from Germany take the stage with a huge play list ranging from the Middle Ages to modern day Pop. Sunday 3rd May sees an end to the festivities with the closing Gala Concert.

The Choral Festival Food Fair will be making a welcome return to Lapps Quay. Here you can enjoy culinary delights from local produce, and at the same time not be too far away from all the action, as City Hall is only across the river.
