Belfast certainly has a lot going on for it in the way of family entertainment and events over the next few months. With such a wide variety on offer, the family will enjoy carnival parades, 5 a side football competitions, steam train rides and much more. St. Patrick’s Day Carnival and Concert Belfast
The theme of this year’s carnival parade is “Legends, Myths, and Stories”. On the day you will see performers jigging along to both traditional and carnival music, colourful floats, clowns and much more.
The carnival parade gets under way at 12 noon from City Hall. It will then make its way along Donegal Place to Castle Junction into Castle Place, then along High Street and Victoria Street, into Custom House Square.
At the time of writing, tickets for the St. Patrick’s Day free concert at Custom House Square had all been allocated.
Easter Fun Football Competition
This event takes place on the 7th and 8th of April at the Sixmile Leisure Centre, Ballyclare. Children from P4 to P7 are eligible to take part in this 5 a side football competition. The games start at 10.00a.m. on both days and children should be accompanied by a manager.
An entrance fee applies and please note places are limited.

Easter Eggspress Steam Train
Children love trains and this is a lovely opportunity for them to have a ride on a steam train. There are 2 trains running on the 13th of April from Belfast Central to Whitehead. The trains will depart Belfast Central at 10.55a.m. and 13.25p.m. for the 32 mile journey. All children in receipt of a ticket will receive an Easter Egg.

Belfast Children’s Festival
This festival runs from Friday the 23rd of May to Sunday the 1st of June 2009. Organised by children’s art charity, Young at Art, it features an art exhibition with works from children up to 12 years of age, music and theatre.
Events are held in a number of venues throughout the city and there is also a Continental Market at the City Hall from Friday 23rd May to Monday 26th May.

Belfast City Carnival
Festivities take place through Belfast city centre on Saturday 27th June. Celebrating the beginning of the new Belfast Lord Mayor’s Term of Office, you and your family will have a wonderful time as you watch street performers, musicians and colourful floats at this very popular parade.

Feile an Phobail 09
This year’s festival takes place from the 1st to the 9th of August. During the 9 days you will enjoy music, comedy, literature, films, drama, exhibitions, debates, family events and the carnival parade.
Events take place in various venues in West Belfast and will feature Irish and International artists.
