Located in Belfast, on the east side of the River Lagan, the Odyssey Arena is the country’s largest in-door stadium with a capacity of 14,000. Check out our guide to what’s happening here this December.
The Odyssey Arena is Belfast’s premier sports and entertainment venue and showcases the very best acts, shows and sporting events both on a national and international level.
Where will you find it? It’s situated on the east side of the River Lagan in an area known as The Titanic Quarter at Belfast City Harbour. The location was originally the shipyard grounds of Harland and Wolff, where the ill-fated Titanic was built.
Today The Titanic Quarter is home to many apartment buildings, a large Titanic entertainment attraction, a riverside entertainment venue, The Northern Ireland Science Park which works closely with Queens University in Belfast, and of course The Odyssey Arena which is located adjacent to the Quarter.
The ‘Titanic Park’ was officially opened in 1995 by United States President Bill Clinton, today it is known as ‘The Titanic Quarter’ and it continues to grow and flourish and entertain both local and international visitors.
The Odyssey Arena has played host to some major national and international artists from Kylie Minogue to Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne to Dolly Parton, and Girls Aloud to Westlife. It’s also home to the Belfast Giants Ice Hockey Team.
In 2005 The Odyssey Arena was short-listed in the ‘International Large Venue of the Year’ award and it is today classed as one of the top 6 major concert venues in the world.
