Location…

Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre is located on Castle Street, Dalkey, County Dublin.

You’ll certainly need a full day to experience all Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre has to offer. On site is the 15th Century fortified town house, otherwise known as Goat castle, the 10th century Church and Graveyard, Modern Exhibition Area, Art Gallery, Town Hall and gift ghop!

During the 15th Century, Dalkey was a port for Dublin city. At this time seven fortified houses were built in the area. The main purpose of these houses was to store goods brought in by large vessels in Dalkey Sound. Goat Castle was one of these purpose built houses.

Today, when you visit you’ll see the Machicolation and Murder Hole. And in the living quarters you’ll see a Medieval fireplace, Garderobe, and Victorian panelling.

Venture to the Battlements and experience the “Warders Walk” and not forgetting the breathtaking scenery.

St. Begnets Church and Graveyard: St Begnet is the patron Saint of Dalkey and this church and graveyard dates back to the 10th Century. On view today is the nave of the church and chancel arch. Check out the belfry, it actually had space for two bells.

Are you a budding artist looking for a place to house your exhibitions? The Exhibition Area is ideal. With lots of space and strong natural light as well as staff who will help hang your valuable works, it’s perfect. A press release and listings in the local and national newspapers will also be sent out on your behalf.

Dalkey Town Hall: You enter this building via the ground floor of Goat Castle.

Finish off your day with a visit to the gift shop.
