Belfast has a nightlife scene to match the best in Europe. So before you grab your glad rags and party your way along the streets of Belfast, check out our guide to Belfast’s hottest nightspots - from it’s pulsating clubs to it’s welcoming pubs.
Belfast really is a good drinking town and some of its best bars include Benedicts of Belfast, a hotel, bar and restaurant on Bradbury Place, while the Botanic Inn on Malone Road is hugely popular with students. Other popular night spots, many of which have musical entertainment several nights a week, include Bobs in the Russell Court Complex on Lisburn Road. Cutters Wharf Bar & Restaurant is ideal during the summer as it has plenty of space outside, Copperfields Bar & Restaurant on Fountain Street has an old style feel to it as does the Fountain Tavern, with its traditional Tudor style design.
On Bedford Street you’ll find Morrison’s, an old fashioned bar offering live music, and it’s usually jam-packed at the weekend. Another popular pub offering nightly entertainment is Katy Daly’s on Ormeau Avenue. Also bear in mind that many of Belfast’s pubs serve food as well so you can so you can tuck into some hearty ‘pub grub’ and wash it down with a local beer or two!
One of the city’s oldest bars is Kelly’s Cellars (well known for it’s traditional music sessions) on Bank Street, not too far from Castlecourt Shopping Centre. Another famous landmark has to be the long established family owned Lavery’s on Bradbury Place. Part of this establishment is The Bunker, a fantastic venue for live acts during the week. Check out McMahon’s Bar on the corner of Dock Street and Garmoyle Street while the very popular Duke of York, another famous landmark, is located in an alleyway near St. Anne’s Cathedral - there’s live music here most evenings. Another excellent live music venue is the John Hewitt, just a few doors away, and also in this area is Nick’s Warehouse serving good food and a fantastic wine list.
Afterwards put your dancing shoes on and head to one of Belfast’s best clubs. These include Avenue Night Club, Bambu Beach Club, Box, Club Kia, Clum ON, Club Tonic, Cruez Niteclub, Karma, La Lea, Milk, Ollie’s, Shine, The Big Easy, The Elephant Room, The Kremlin, The Limelight, Manhatted (Mclub), The Menagerie, The Venue, The Warehouse, Thompsons, and Yello.
