About the gig…
Dropkick Murphys are a Celtic Punk band from in Boston, MA. They have become known for their unique blend of Irish Music, Scottish Music and hardcore punk music. The Pogues invented the Celtic Punk genre, among others, and they have provided significant influence to the Dropkick Murphys. Other influences include Stiff Little Fingers, The Clash, AC/DC, and the Swingin’ Utters.
The Dropkick Murphy’s have released new albums every other year since the mid-90s. They released Do or Die (98), The Gang’s All Here (99), Sing Loud, Sing Proud! (01), Blackout (03), The Warrior’s Code (05) and The Meanest of Times (07) which has been their highest rated album yet! This Boston band are well known in America and their songs have featured in films like ‘The Departed’ and ‘Fever Pitch’.
So if you’re up for a good night out, head for the Tripod and hear songs like ‘The Fields of Athenry’ and the ‘Foggy Dew’ like you’ve never heard them before!
As part of their tour of Great Britain and Ireland they will be coming to The Tripod in Dublin at the end of January. The concert takes place on Thursday 31st of January and it kicks off at 7:30pm.
How to get to the Tripod…
The Tripod is Dublin’s newest entertainment venue and can be found on Harcourt Street, just a short walk from St.Stephen’s Green in the city centre. The Tripod can be found at the top of Harcourt Street on the left hand side.
Once the site of the Harcourt Street Train Station, The Tripod is now one of the city’s hippiest venues and incorporates a trendy nightclub and bar.
There is a Green Luas tramline stop on Harcourt Street that close to the Tripod. There are also some bus routes from the city centre; these include the 15a, 15b, 15c, 16a and 19a.
