The ever-popular James Blunt is performing in the RDS Simmonscourt, Dublin on Tuesday, 29th January. Since arriving on the scene a few years ago his popularity has rocketed and now he brings his Lost Souls Tour to Dublin for what should prove to be a great night of music. The RDS occupies a 42-acre site close to Herbert Park in Ballsbridge, one of the leafy suburbs of the Dublin 4 area, just south of the city centre. If you’re heading to the RDS for any of its upcoming events, it’s easy enough to get to.School House Hotel, Dublin

If you’re on foot and take Trinity College as your starting point just head south along Nassau Street. After about 150 metres or so take a right and follow signs for Mount Street and the R118. Stay on this road for about 2kms (this road becomes Merrion Road) and you should see the RDS in front of you.

Alternatively you can make use of Dublin’s excellent public transport network. Bus routes 5, 7 and 45 all stop along Nassau Street outside of Trinity College and will get you as far as the Merrion Road entrance of the RDS. There are two DART stops within walking distance as well, the Lansdowne and Sandymount stations are both just a few blocks away. The Ranelagh stop is the nearest Luas stop on the Green Line, but this is a fair walk away.

James Blunt is an English singer/songwriter that leapt to fame with his debut album ‘Back to Bedlam’; especially with the single ‘You’re Beautiful’. James Blunt has received numerous awards throughout his brief career including Best Male Act and Best Song for ‘You’re Beautiful’.Dylan Hotel, Dublin

‘You’re Beautiful’ was actually the 3rd single released, after ‘High’ and ‘Wiseman’ but neither of these other two songs made much of an impact. It wasn’t until ‘You’re Beautiful’ entered the charts at number 12, and slowly made its way up to number 1 over 6 weeks, that James Blunt hit the big time. The album Back to Bedlam followed the song to the top of the Album Charts. The song then went on to be one of the biggest summer hits in Europe and then reached number 1 in the USA. James Blunt’s 4th single, ‘Goodbye My Lover’ followed ‘You’re Beautiful’ to mainstream success but not quite as high as ‘You’re Beautiful’.

In September 2007, James Blunt released his second album called ‘All the Lost Souls’. Some of the songs that enjoyed international success from this album include ’1973′ and ‘Same Mistake’, though none have yet reached the heights of his first album. He’s now touring with his new album and this tour comes to Dublin in 2008. The show in Dublin starts at 7:30 on Tuesday 29th of January in the RDS Simmonscourt.

If you’re travelling to Dublin for this show why not stay the night and book into one of the Dublin hotels close to the venue.
