If you happen to be visiting Ireland’s capital for business then it’s likely you’ll need Dublin hotels near the Irish Financial Services Centre (IFSC) in the rejuvenated Docklands Area. This quayside location overlooking the River Liffey in Dublin 1 is the core of the city’s business district. So in this part of Dublin, hotels are only a 10 minute walk from O’Connell Street and a 20 minute walk from the pedestrianised Grafton Street.

The Irish Financial Services Centre (IFSC) and the Point Depot Concert and Exhibition venue are located in the North Docklands area of Dublin city. At the moment ‘The Point’, as it’s often referred to, is closed due to major renovations and is due to reopen at the end of 2008. If business is on the agenda the IFSC is the heart of Dublin’s business district.

The Dublin Docklands Area has had a major facelift in recent years. This Liffey side location which stretches from the Matt Talbot Bridge to the Point Depot, on both sides of the river, has received a major injection of cash since the mid 90′s. The main business bodies in the Irish Financial Services Centre (IFSC) include the Dublin Docklands Development Authority, the Dublin International Insurance & Management Association and Financial Services Ireland.

If you don’t fancy walking, getting around the city from the Docklands is really easy as Connolly Station is only a short walk away and serves intercity trains, the DART, the LUAS (light rail system) and a number of bus routes. The Docklands also has it’s own new station which connects the IFSC to stations in the west of the county such as Ashtown, Castleknock, Broombridge, Coolmine and Clonsilla. In the future the LUAS is planning to extend as far as the IFSC.

So if you need to be at the Irish Financial Services Centre in Dublin, hotels on your doorstep include the Clarion Hotel IFSC, Jury’s Inn Custom House Quay and the Quality Hotel Dublin City.
