Galbally
Ireland's most picturesque village in the valley of the majestic Glen of Aherlow. Ireland's overall National Tidytowns Winner in 1994.
People from all walks of life have passed through this square - in the 1800s Bianconi's horses clattered through pulling stage coaches to the stables on the northern side of the square. During the famine people toiled in the work-houses erected on the southern side. The striking statue of one of the volunteers in the War of Independence commands the centre of the square. Brightly painted houses and distinctive shop fronts embellish the colourful square.
