Corlea Trackway Visitor Centre
Keenagh, Longford
Here the centre tells the story of the local Iron Age bog road which was built in the year 148 BC across the boglands close to the River Shannon. The road is the largest of its kind to have been uncovered in Europe and was excavated over the years by Professor Barry Rafferty of University College Dublin. The Centre has a film presentation, exhibitions and tearooms. Guided tours of the site are available....
The Old School House
Athlone Road, Edgeworthstown, Longford
It served as a National School until the early 1950's. In recent years it was acquired by the Development Association from the Edgeworth Family. It and the adjoining Fair Green is being developed into a Visitors Centre, and a place of culture and recreation for the community. The building retains many of its original features such as the stone exterior staircase and the narrow entrance gate. It is hoped that when finances become available the building will house Edgeworth and O'Ferrell memora...
