Stoops Guest House is a modern architecturally designed, guesthouse which harmoniously blends modern comfort and convenience with traditional, old-style friendly hospitality. Our guesthouse is run by the Mulhall family and we are located in 2 acres of landscaped gardens and surrounded by rolling countryside and adjacent to the picturesque villages of Coolattin and Shillelagh in South of Co. Wicklow.

Golf, fishing, game shoots; trail-walking and horse-riding facilities are on the door-step. Coolattin’s historic 18-hole golf-course is a 5 minute stroll away and the championship golf course of Mount Woolsey is only a 15 minute drive. The nearby historic Oak woods of Tomnafinnogue and Tinahely Railway Trail provide a perfect amenity for the casual walker and the Wicklow Way long-distance route awaits those seeking a more ambitious challenge. An excellent horse riding stable is also close at hand.

Directions

From Dublin Airport
Exit the M50 at the N81 and travel south via Blessington and Baltinglass. From Baltinglass head into Tullow and turn left at the Garda Station for Shillelagh. Stoops, Coollattin is 2 km through Shillelagh village – follow signs for Coolattin Golf Club, we are located 500 yards opposite up the road on the left hand side. We are 50 miles from M50 approximately, leave yourself 90 minutes.
From South Dublin:
Take N11 to Rathnew, then head for Rathdrum, Aughrim, Coolboy, Coollattin. Again it's approximately 50 miles and travel time from Loughlinstown Roundabout is c.90 minutes at easy pace.
From Rosslare:
Travel to Enniscorthy, Bunclody, Carnew. Again follow signs to Coolattin Golf Club signposted from Carnew. We are located 500 yards before you reach the Golf Club on the right hand side.

 

Description

The guesthouse benefits from a large dining area for breakfast while a communal lounge with a wood fired stove is provided for reading, TV and general relaxation.

Lunch and evening meals can be provided by visiting Parkview Restaurant located in the quaint little village of Shillelagh less than 3km down the road; this restaurant is renowned for its home cooking. Patrons can also pop next door for drinks in Parkview House.

Stoops Guesthouse is ideally suited for those wishing to play golf at Coolattin golf course or those involved in local business and enterprise. Stoops is also ideally situated for tourists, where it provides central access to the garden of Ireland, Dublin & the sunny south east.

All 8 guest bedrooms are generous in size and have been designed to a high standard throughout. We have tried to produce a modern, yet warm feel within each of our individual bedrooms with the use of atmospheric lighting, modern artwork & wall hung LCD televisions.
Guests can make use of telephones and have a choice of TV and radio, a seated area and table for writing with tea and coffee making facilities in all bedrooms. A full length mirror with hairdryer and towels are also provided for personal use. All our bedrooms benefit from modern full en-suite facilities set within a clean contempory spacious design. Complimentary tea, coffee and bottled mineral water are provided as standard.
We have a broad selection of room types to suit most requirements. King-size beds are standard in most rooms; however we have a selection of rooms to suit, whether a family room, a single room or a twin room is required. A disabled room is located on the ground floor.

Stoops guesthouse is located under a forest with sweeping views of the far reaching valley and hills of south Wicklow. We have 2 acre’s of gardens for guests and their children’s use. Private safe parking is provided for all patrons.

We have a large communal lounge area with warm glowing stove for general relaxation, watching TV, reading, playing cards or board games as well as meeting other like minded guests.

Perfectly located for use of Coolattin’s historic 18 hole Golf Course. Stoops is family as well as disability and elderly friendly with discounts for both children and pensioners.

Lunch and evening meals are provided by visiting the locally renowned Parkview Restaurant located in the village of Shillelagh only 3km down the road. This restaurant and public house is famous for its home cooked fresh food, friendly atmosphere, Guinness and evening entertainment that can be enjoyed by the entire family.
