Knockree Youth Hostel

Lackan House
Knockree
Near Enniskerry
Wicklow
Knockree is a purpose built 5 Star hostel located on the Wicklow Way which re-opened in 2008 after a €4m million refurbishment. It is situated in a wonderful tranquil position, right on the Wicklow Way and commands superb views of Glencree and the mountains that ring it. Enniskerry, 7 kilometres from the hostel, is one of the prettiest villages in Ireland, lying in a wooded hollow among the hills west of Bray. Nearby are Powerscourt demesne and the Glen of the Dargle

Our newest 5 star hostel which was previously a converted farmhouse, is set at the bottom of Knockree, overlooking the Glencree Mountains. The Wicklow Way passes through the hostel grounds and so the ideal location for hillwalkers and nature lovers alike.

Knockree Hostel boasts all the usual characteristics of a top rated 5 star property including en-suite rooms, family rooms, a ‘honeymoon suite’, meeting room, restaurant for groups, self catering kitchen, full car & coach parking and internet access. It is fully wheelchair accessible also. All rooms will have a spectacular view of the amazing scenery that surrounds this hostel.

Things to do in the Local Area

Explore the beauty of the countryside or continue your journey on the Wicklow Way. This begins in Dublin's southern suburb of Rathfarnham and travels in a south-south-westerly direction across the Dublin and Wicklow uplands, then through the rolling hill country of southwest County Wicklow to finish in the small, County Carlow village of Clonegal 132 kilometres later. A combination of suburban parkland, forest trails, wild and scenic mountain landscape and finally rolling countryside offers a wonderfully varied, 8 to 10 day experience for a hill-walker of average fitness.
