Welcome to Glen na Smole in the Garden County of Wicklow. We are situated just one mile from the quaint county town of Wicklow but just 2 mins. drive from the N.11. We are just one hours drive south of Dublin and approximately the same distance from the busy port of Rosslare so this is the ideal location for first or last night stays while on holidays in Ireland.

Directions

If travelling from Dublin Airport, take the M.50 southbound and this then leads to the N.11.  Stay on the N.11 until you come to the Beehive Pub, then turn right (R.751).  Continue to the roundabout and then take the first exit for Ashtown Lane and Glen na Smole is 20 metres from there, opposite the stop sign on the left.

Similarly, if travelling from Rosslare take the N.11 northbound and turn right off the N.11 at the Beehive and continue to the roundabout, taking the first exit for Ashtown Lane.

If travelling by bus, no. 133 goes from Dublin Airport, via Dublin city centre, to Wicklow Town.  There is a bus approximately every hour.  There is also a train service to Wicklow Town, approx. 2 km away, a couple of times a day.

Description

Room Features (Back to top)

There are four en suite bedrooms, each individually decorated, with tv, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryers, clock/radio, complimentary toiletries etc. - in fact, everything you will need to make your stay as comfortable as possible.  We have one double room, one twin (two separate beds) room and two rooms with a double and a single bed in each.  Both of these rooms can also accommodate another fold up bed which would be ideal for a small child. There is a generous reduction for children sharing with adults.

Wicklow Town(Back to top)

Staying near Wicklow will give you the opportunity to explore the rich history of Wicklow Town itself, which is located on the beautiful coastline. There are numerous opportunities for you to enjoy the panoramic setting of the area, whether it’s walks, horse riding or a spot of golf, this area has it all.

Nice and cozy room, beautiful house located in quiet area. Close to all attractions nearby like Ashford Gardens, Wicklow Mountains, Powerscourt Gardens or Brittas Bay sandy beach. Fantastic choice for breakfast will meet everybodys taste. We can highly recommend beautiful omelette filled with tomatoes, mushrooms and fresh herbs. We will for sure stay in Glen Na Smole again!

Facilities (Back to top)

As Wicklow is the Garden County, there are many outdoor pursuits available in the area.  With over 25 really good golf courses in the County you will be spoilt for choice and tee times can be arranged for you.  The European Club, Blainroe, Wicklow, Woodenbridge, Charlesland, Druids Glen are just some of the many courses all within a 20 minute drive from here.

Some of the best gardens in the country are, obviously, here in Wicklow (The Garden of Ireland) such as Powerscourt, Mount Usher and the National Gardens Exhibition Centre.

Glendalough, the medivial settlement founded by St. Kevin in the 6th centuary, is a short drive from here in the Wicklow mountains.  Other attractions are Avoca village (Ballykissangel), Sally Gap, The Meeting of the Waters (made famous in the poem by Thomas Moore), Avondale (home of Charles Stuart Parnell) to mention but a few of the interesting places to visit while here.
