Slieveardagh Heritage Centre was opened in 1995. It is located in a former 19th cent. church. The Heritage Centre tells the interesting story of the area which has had a varied and chequered history ranging form coal mining to the Young Irelanders of the mid 19th century....

The 13th century stone castle consists of a gate tower, curtain walls and two corner towers. In the castle courtyard stands the 18th century Queen Anne style Damer House. Nenagh, North_Tipperary
The centre is located in two buildings of North Tipperary's former County Gaol (prison). The displays in the gaol and Governor's House relate to folk life, the environment and prison life. 'Hands-on' is encouraged in the recreated shop, school-room, forge and dairy.

There are 3-D models of the gaol complex, Lough Derg on the River Shannon and of the lakeside villages of Dromineer and Garrykennedy. The Centre hosts occasional photographic and art exhibitions.

The Heritage Centre invites you to turn the key to the rich heritage of Cashel, one of Ireland's most significant Ecclesiastical Centres dating to before Saint Patrick. It provides the visitor with a series of changing exhibitions, a large scale model of Cashel in the 1640's, highlighting the lesser known treasures of the town.

Main Street, Carrick-on-suir, South Tipperary
This former Protestant church, now restored as a heritage centre, was once part of the Pre Reformation burial ground and church site of Carrick Mor (Big Carrick).

Its interesting gravestones include a memorial to Thomas Butler, died 1604, an illegitimate son of Thomas, tenth Earl of Ormonde. Buried here too is Dorothea Herbert, 1770 - 1829, daughter of the eighteenth century rector and author of "Retrospections".
