Walk No. 3 Union Wood & Union Rock: Union is a mixed forest ca. 4sq.km in area situated near Collooney. It has miles of forest trails and offers many good walks, expecially in wet and windy weather when other routes are too exposed.

Road approach: Depart Sligo/Courthouse/Garda Station. Take N4 as far as Collooney. At 11km/7m cross Collooney Bridge, turn L and, 100m ahead take lane on L leading to forest. At lodge take lane on L for 1km and park car. Route (use watch to time progress) Zero Take track up hill past barrier 13 Minutes R 15 Minutes SO X-Roads 19 Minutes L (off main track) on to narrow rising track. Track climbs and bears L. Union Rock in view ahead; Cross small valley and bear R up hill to Summit.
