Welcome to an anglers paradise. Sligo boasts a maze of premium fishing rivers and lakes ranging in location from just outside Sligo City to the peripherals of the county. The waters of the county offer a vast array of fish from Cod to Conger, Tope to Turbot, Salmon, Pike, Trout and Coarse Fish.
Description
Sea angling is principally located at Mullaghmore, Rosses Point and Enniscrone where stocks include Shark, Tope, Ray, Huss, Dogfish, Monkfish, Cod, Ling, Conger and Flatfish. Boats can be hired at these locations. Raughley, Streedagh and Aughris are popular for shore fishing. As a general rule permission of the fishery proprietors plus a state licence is required prior to making any attempts at fishing, in the majority of fishing venues in Sligo. Sligo's fisheries are continuously monitored and maintained by the Fisheries boards so that a high degree of excellence is assured at all times with respect to the water quality, angling environments, fish stocks, fish populations etc. All of these factors are examined and closely scrutinised at frequent intervals to maintain the degree of excellence for which Sligo's waters are renowned.
