John Hinde’s series of famous postcards captured Ireland’s idyllic rural landscape where, most memorably, red-haired children collected turf from a Connemara bog.
The iconic images epitomised an Ireland we have left behind; an Ireland that is worlds apart from the country today.
Capture a tourism icon for Ireland by entering an image of Ireland’s beautiful landscape. The winning photograph will be reproduced as an original John Hinde postcard.
We are inviting you to submit a photograph that you feel best represents the essence of Ireland.
Held in association with John Hinde Ireland, the GoIreland.com Photography Awards is an international amateur tourist photography competition aimed at showcasing Ireland and its tourism qualities.
Open to both Irish holidaymakers and inbound visiting tourists, the Photography Awards invites you to use your imagination and skill to record an image that characterises the country’s tourism qualities. The photograph should attempt to best represent Ireland’s reputation as an attractive tourism location. Perhaps it may be a view of a well-known tourism setting or a hidden gem that deserves more attention.
The winning photograph voted the GoIreland.com Photography Awards Icon 2007 will become part of history by being reproduced as an original postcard by the John Hinde Company and distributed throughout the country. The overall winning photograph will also earn the winning amateur a luxury holiday in Ireland with flights, hotel accommodation and car rental included.
A selection of short breaks will be awarded to the two runners-up.
The closing date for entries is Friday, September 14th 2007.
