The Glenderan is not far from Westport. From there you cross the hump back bridge and go up Bridge Street and turn right. After 150 metres turn left and follow signs for Louisburgh (Note: do not go up the steep hill).Continue on up the harbour and continue through it. You will pass the Towers and Quays pubs 200 metres on at the end of the sea wall. Turn left where you should see signs for Glenderan.
The Glenderan is just 600 metres from the harbour/Quayside at which you will find a nice quiet area with plenty of fine restaurants and pubs. There are also plenty of shops to explore. There is often plenty of music in the pubs which provides the perfect atmosphere for a few pints of Guinness.
The Glenderan is close to Westport and it is a very attractive town with a character all of its own. Westport offers loads of restaurants and pubs of its own with plenty with music to dance the night away. For the sporty type there are swimming pools and gyms scattered throughout the town. There is also a great golf course nearby.
The rooms within the Glenderan are all ensuite with orthopaedic mattresses and the power showers with plenty of hot water. The entire house is centrally heated so no need to fear a winter chill. The rooms feature satellite TV, tea/coffee facilities, hairdryer and plenty of books to read.

Several things. The location - close to the Quay and to a quieter pub with good food (the Shebeen), size of rooms, pass to use the spa and leisure centre at Westport Woods hotel was particularly good after climbing Croagh Patrick.
The Glenderan provides you with a sitting room with its own open turf fire allowing you to kick back relax with a cup of tea and perhaps swap stories with your fellow travellers. The Glenderan offers free use of the Leisure Centre facilities (pool, gym, sauna, etc.) at the Beach Club to all their guests.
