Achill Cliff House Directions Achill Cliff House Hotel is set in Keel the Heart of Achill Island. We are 75Km from Castlebar, from there you take the N59 to Mulranny and then the R319 from there to Achill Island. Keel is approx. 15km from Achill Sound where you cross the Michael Davitt bridge. Please remember if you are using GPS systems do not go through Westport unless it is desired. Easiest route is from Castlebar--Newport--Mulranny Achill Sound.
Achill Cliff House Hotel over looks the world renowned Keel Beach (Trawmore) a 5km (approx) sandy beach ideal for brisk morning walks or romantic strolls at sunset. During the day, Keel Beach is a hive of activity with surfers, wind surfers, kite surfers, swimmer, families, walkers and fitness enthusiasts taking advantage of its large strand and rolling waves 5 Minutes walk from the hotel to the east is the Keel sandybanks area home to the Achill Golf Club. A 9 hole golf links in the shadows of the majestic Minaun Cliffs a great way to pass a couple of hours. Also in this area is Keel lake home to many of our water sports providers. Keel lake with its shallow waters it is the ideal place to try new sports like canoeing, windsurfing and if you're brave enough kite surfing! North from the hotel lies the monsterous Slievemore mountain. Great to pass a day hiking. For those on the historical trail at the foot of Slievemore lies the deserted village and the megalithic tombs. The Deserted Village at Slievemore is a reminder of times past on Achill Island. Time spent here meandering from cottage to cottage, through the fields with their still evident ridges is a journey back in time.

It was right beside keel strand and the room was spotless with a lovely sea view. Also the breakfast was excellent with a great choice and plenty to eat. Staff were very efficient and friendly.
