Great hotel in the heart of the city centre. Walking distance to castle and center life (bars and restuarants). Parking garage directly across from hotel and very convenient. Only inconvenience was there were 4 travelers and we had to get 2 rooms instead of sharing 1 large room.

The hotel is central & the spa facilities are great as was the breakfast . The only bad thing about the hotel is the price of the food . My partner had a veggie risotto & it came to 17 euro which i find alot for a meal that contains no meat !!! Also i had a steak which was just about average that came with onion rings which were basically greasie batter with a handful of chips & a side of vegetables which were reheated after being boiled earlier in the day & this was 25 euro. Also our 18 month old daughter had a few chips & chicken nuggets which was charged at 10 euro . So for the qaulity & prices they are charging it was very dissapointing .

I found the hotel quite good. It was very busy and the queue for breakfast was a bit crazy. Our room was lovely but there was a sky light (4 floor) and this was not covered by a blind so your room was bright once the sun came up and I could have done with a bit of a sleep in. Apart from this the service and food was very good.

lovely staff, rooms are triple though with extra cot bed, that should be made clear on booking. a family room should have four beds, and noisy out the front at night. staff were brilliant though

The hotel itself was beautiful - gorgeous inviting foyer, lots of sit down room, great family room, good gym, nice leisure centre and the buffet breakfast help yourself very welcome when kids involved. Big issue though for kids was no fried eggs - only scrambled - so marks lost there - and the sausages, I'm afraid, were horrible! Bar and diner nice too - bit cold looking though. Parking great and ease of access from it to hotel and town centre fab. No major complaints at all - we were hugely impressed by the Kilkenny Ormonde and have been recommending it to people ever since.

it was the best hotel break ever... everybody was just so nice. nothing was ever too much trouble for them no matter what you asked or what time you asked!!!!!! would definitely reccommend it to families.. kids club just brilliant!!!!!!

Just back from an excellent stay at this hotel. Great hotel for kids. The pool is excellent. The kids club was very good but often full.The breakfast was very good and the staff were very accomodating. The 1st room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke. The duty manager moved us without delay and was very apologetic. His response to the problem was perfect. The public areas are very comfortable. We have already booked another stay and the kids are delighted. Location is perfect. we just abandoned the car,€5 per day,and walked around Kilkenny. Over a meal enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine and walked back to hotel.

Really enjoyed our stay, hotel very nice and ideal for sightseeing. Staff were very helpful and my husband was very pleased that they accommadated his gluten-free diet so well.

Main problem with the stay the noise both nights between 1am and 6:30am, equivalent to being at football match in the bar and foyer and smokers just outside the hotel reception within 40 yards of the rooms. Unbearable. Still serving drink until 6:30am, no-one to police rowdy crowd. No other hotel with this problem in Kilkenny that night. Called at 4:30 am with Hibernian Hotel. All shut up, silent, no after hours drinking. We simply had no chance of sleeping so walked round town. Letter from Duty Manager addressed to a different couple. Shoddy, never be back in that Hotel.

The staff were very friendly, however, the hotels website and information in the lobby adverised the hotels steakhouse as being open on thursday nights which it wasnt. Also there was a lorry right outside the hotel at 6.45 am with the engine running for over an hour while a lift on the lorry was used to change lights on hotel signage.
