Welcome to Portmagee Hostel located in the picturesque fishing village of Portmagee, on the Skellig Ring, the hidden secret of the Ring of Kerry. Gateway to the Skelligs Rock and Valentia Island, our friendly traditionally styled modern hostel is the ideal place to stay for holidaying and exploring this magnificent scenic part of South West Ireland.

With 22 bedrooms offering a selection of ensuite, standard, bunk and wheel chair friendly rooms, the hostel is super for individuals, couples, families, groups, clubs, students, backpackers, in fact, we welcome everybody. Our hostel offers 2 self catering kitchens with all modern facilities and utensils, 2 dining rooms, lounge with TV, DVD, Radio and Public Phone, Private Gardens and Car Park.
Local activities include Boat Trips to the Skelligs Rock, scenic walks and The Kerry Way, Valentia Island scenic drive, cycling routes, diving, sea sports, angling, horse riding, Skellig Heritage Centre, archaeological sites, and so much more. Local pubs, restaurants, cafes and music all within a stroll of our location.

From Kerry Airport it’s a one hour drive to Cahirciveen, the nearest town to our Hostel (12km). 2km outside of Caherciveen on Waterville Road, take 1st right hand turn at sign post to Portmagee. Go through the village staying on the Skellig Ring road and the Hostel is located on the left hand side of the road.

From Tralee and Killarney (train and bus stations) take the N70 to Killorglin then take same directions as above.

NOTE:  Passengers for Tralee must be booked before 15:00 Hrs on Wednesday as seats are limited to Tralee.

Our 22 bedrooms are warm, spacious, fresh and bright with views of the surrounding countryside and village. With pine floors and furnishing, they are traditionally styled and comfortable. Bed linen is supplied and towels can be hired for the duration of your stay. Our combination of double ensuite rooms, standard doubles, twin and bunk rooms and family rooms make us ideal for individuals, couples, families and groups. Our standard bathrooms offer combined bath and shower facilities, our ensuites offer electric shower facilities and our wheelchair friendly bathrooms offer roll in shower facilities.

Our hostel is warm, welcoming and friendly and offers modern yet traditionally styled public areas. These include 2 colourful self catering kitchens with all modern facilities and utensils, 2 bright dining rooms and a cosy lounge with TV, DVD, Radio and Public Phone. Also, for our guests are our private Gardens with picnic tables and benches, and private Car Park. Our luggage storage area is available for early arrivals and late departures.
