Did you know that it’s the birthplace of Earl Kitchener of Khartoum, the serious figure with an unrepentant finger pointing towards you with the caption ‘ Your Country Needs You’ on recruitment posters in World War I. Take some time to discover the culture and history that waits you there.
With so much happening in Listowel throughout the year, the difficulty is deciding on when to come. The Listowel Races take place in April and September; The Garden of Europe is a delightful hidden gem in the town containing a wide variety of scrubs and greenery from all over Europe.
