Description
Description
Many romantic tales surround the history of the Claddagh, it is customary to give or receive this emblem as a token of love or affection. The design shows two hands holding a heart croned - the theme suggesting "Let Love and Friendship Reign". To this day the claddagh is used as a wedding ring. The motif associated with the wearing of the Claddagh Ring has been handed down through generations - if the Claddagh be received from a loved one the heart is posed towards the wearer's heart, if the love and friendship ceases the Claddagh is worn with the heart facing outwards. Because of its historical origins and romantic appeal the popularity of this ring has increased enormously in recent times.
