Renvyle House Hotel

Blue lakes and matching blue mountains are among Connemara’s gems. So is Renvyle House, set in a landscape of natural beauty, jutting out in to the broad Atlantic with long stretches of white and gold beaches.

Over several centuries, Renvyle House has been built, pulled down, rebuilt, burnt to ashes and rebuilt once again. Donal O’Flaherty, a Chieftain of one of the oldest and most powerful Clans in Connacht once lived here.

Directions

DIRECTIONS TO RENVYLE FROM GALWAY:
In Galway City, take the main road to Clifden (N59). The first place you come to is Moycullen, followed by Oughterard. You go straight through each of these. At the end of Oughterard village you turn right, go over a bridge and turn left. The next village, as such, is Maam Cross – you go straight through here, all the time going in the direction of Clifden until you come to the Clifden/Recess T junction.

Here is where you branch off, no longer heading for Clifden but taking the sharp right turn for Recess. This road is approximately 10 miles long and is know as the Inagh Valley. At the end of this road you turn left, driving back past Kylemore Abbey and into Letterfrack. In Letterfrack, turn right and on to Tullycross. In Tullycross veer left and on through the village of Tully. About a mile and a half past Tully you will reach the entrance to Renvyle House Hotel – This is well sign posted.

Renvyle is brilliant, food, atmosphere, friendliness of the staff, from Ronnie the CEO to the waiters and waitresses. The weather was dire, we got the end of the hurricane, but the fires were lit and a cozier place you couldn't be. The food as usual was top class, fresh, local and amazing. Had two very relaxing days at Renvyle House Hotel, the weather was not important when everything else was so good. We'll be back.
